Meaningful Mentorship Matters

Advocacy News – July 14, 2022

Whether you are starting a new job, contemplating a professional decision or simply learning best tips and tricks to your job, mentorship plays a crucial role in any professional’s development at all stages of your career, as learning never stops. In fact, in work environment mentees are promoted five times more often than those that do not have mentors, and mentors themselves are six times more likely to be promoted. Even further, mentorship will continue to play a vital role in the modernization of the workforce as 75% of the workforce will be comprised of millennials by 2025 and 79% of millennials consider mentorship as crucial to their own career success.

The Michigan ATHENA program, a women’s leadership organization housed within the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, includes programs and trainings on topics and strategies to help participants thrive in and out of the office. Participants can expect to hear panelists experiences with and benefits from mentorship, tips on finding the right mentors and insight on how to become a mentor yourself.
