our legislature

The Michigan Chamber Policy Advisory Committees help guide the Chamber’s agenda on subjects ranging from tax policy to health care and employment law to energy and environment. By being a chamber member, you have the opportunity to participate on a policy advisory committee and help determine the Chamber’s position on key pieces of legislation and initiatives, as well as set the Chamber’s legislative priorities.

Energy and Environment

The Energy and Environment Committee focuses on a wide range of regulatory and legislative issues related to air emission, water use, waste management, renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy rates.

The primary focus of the committee is on state-level issues under consideration in Lansing; however, the committee also addresses related federal issues.

Health, Human Resources and Talent

The Health & Human Resources Committee focuses on a wide range of issues and is focused on policies that will enable employers to provide cost-effective health insurance benefits, expand flexibility, competition and choice in the health insurance marketplace, protect employers’ rights to manage their workplace with limited governmental involvement and regulation, and protect Michigan’s legal reform climate.

Tax Policy and Economic Competitiveness

The Tax Policy Committee is made up of corporate tax managers, attorneys, CPAs, association executives, consultants and others that are interested in influencing our state’s tax regime to be fair and efficient.  

The committee reviews legislation, administrative guidance and court decisions pertaining to tax.
