Unemployment Insurance Agency to transition to new platform, key updates for MI employers

Advocacy News – Oct. 16, 2025

What’s new: The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) is transitioning from its decade-old MiWAM system to a new platform called MiUI in December. This upgrade is intended to deliver a more efficient, user-friendly and secure experience for employers and third-party administrators (TPAs).

Why it matters: MiUI officially launches Dec. 15,  with certain MiWAM functions phasing out Nov. 7-Dec. 5, 2025. This includes eRegistration, business transfers and seasonal employer applications. Employers and TPAs should complete the following steps in MiWAM prior to shutdowns:

  • Confirm your Employer MiWAM account is active
  • Review and update contact information, payment methods and user permissions
  • Verify your employer or TPA account administrators
  • Access your MiUI activation code through MiWAM

Go deeper: Employers and TPAs can find more information and resources about UIA’s new computer system implementation at MiUI University.
