Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey announced the formation of the “Safe Behavior for Safe Workplaces” Senate workgroup earlier this week. The workgroup will gather information from businesses, medical professionals, and citizens across Michigan to create recommendations for best practices in the workplace in preparation for the transition back to work. Senator Horn will lead this effort.
The Michigan Chamber has been urging lawmakers and the Governor to start charting a path towards reopening our economy and we are encouraged by the actions being taken in the State Senate. The Michigan Chamber has been in constant contact with Senator Shirkey and Senator Horn prior to last weeks announcement and will continue to work closely with all members of the workgroup to drive the conversation towards responsible, get back to work policies.
The Michigan Chamber remains a member driven, policy focused organization. If you have thoughts or ideas you believe would be of interest to the newly formed Safe Behavior for Safe Workplaces workgroup, please share them with Chamber staff. While the Michigan Chamber is prepared to make several suggestions to the workgroup, we are always in search of new ideas.
