Regulations, workforce and growth: Workgroup, roundtables to amplify business voices, drive policy change

Advocacy News – March 27, 2025

What’s happening: Last week, the Michigan Chamber brought together key manufacturers and employers in Muskegon for a roundtable discussion on the economic and regulatory challenges facing their industries. Special thanks to Eagle Alloy, a foundry and metal fabricator with about 350 employees, for hosting.

  • This was the first roundtable of 2025, with more – along with a new, special workgroup – to come for the year.

Why it matters: Michigan businesses are facing rising costs, tight labor markets, complex, shifting and inconsistent regulations, plus fierce global competition. The Chamber is committed to advancing policy changes that make the Great Lakes State more efficient and business friendly, streamlining regulatory processes and improving how agencies interact with employers.

What’s next: The Muskegon roundtable is just the beginning. The Chamber is taking this discussion on the road, meeting with employers across Michigan to gather insights, amplify concerns and drive meaningful policy change.

  • We are also forming a dedicated workgroup to tackle regulatory barriers head-on and identify practical solutions to make government work better for businesses.

  • A key goal of this effort is a body of reforms that provide clarity, consistency, and certainty – allowing businesses to invest, expand and hire with confidence.

⚠️We need to hear from you: If you’d like to join the Chamber’s workgroup, share your story or host a future roundtable, just let us know. Your input will help shape policies that can make a real impact on Michigan’s business climate.
