New Scholarship Available To Members Of The Michigan Chamber Of Commerce.

Thanks to our partners at Davenport University, a new scholarship is now available to members of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce.

Davenport University is launching a new scholarship to enable members of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce to offer higher education opportunities to their full-time staff who are unemployed, laid-off or furloughed because of COVID-19. Davenport’s new Launch Scholarship provides up to $8,000 for up to 30 credits, per academic year, prorated to individuals who have lost their job because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“These individuals are our friends and neighbors and we are in a strong position to offer support during this time of transition,” said Davenport University President, Dr. Richard J. Pappas. “We stand ready to provide the degree programs, professional development, and career services to help them quickly take the next step in their education and career.”

The Launch Scholarship will support those unemployed, laid-off or furloughed and looking to earn an advanced degree, finish a bachelor’s degree or take additional professional development programs to enhance their skills.

The Davenport University Career Services Department is also offering career assessments and transition strategies, as well as training for interviews, and resume and cover letter development. In addition to this one-on-one training, the university’s career services team will host workshops for these individuals throughout the year.

To be eligible for the program, individuals must have been working full-time for an employer that is a member of the Michigan Chamber, and be unemployed, laid-off or furloughed on or after March 1, 2020. The scholarship is available to individuals who plan to take degree-seeking courses during the spring/summer or fall semester at Davenport University. Spring classes begin as soon as May 6, and classes available online.

Individuals interested in taking advantage of this program should visit www.davenport.edu/launch, call Davenport University at 800.686.1600 or send an email to info@davenport.edu.
