Michigan Extends Income Deadline to May 17

Advocacy News – March 23, 2021

As reported last week, the Federal Internal Revenue Service extended the individual income tax deadline to May 17.  The State quickly followed suit last Friday, announcing that they would follow the IRS’s lead and extend the individual income tax deadline to May 17 as well.  The official notice of the extension can be found here: https://www.michigan.gov/treasury/0,4679,7-121–555009–,00.html

As far as city income taxes are concerned, taxpayers should contact the city they live or work in to see if that city will also delay their filing deadlines.
