Michigan Chamber Endorses Tom Leonard for AG and Candidates for State House Special Elections

Advocacy News – February 10, 2022

The Michigan Chamber of Commerce today announced its endorsements of Tom Leonard for Attorney General, as well as Steven Gilbert and Sylvia Grot for the special elections in the 74th and 36th Michigan House districts, respectively.

Tom Leonard is vying for the Republican party’s nomination at the April 23 GOP convention and hoping to take on current AG, Dana Nessel, in November. The House special elections are scheduled for March 1 (primary election) and May 3 (general election).

Steven Gilbert, a resident of Walker (in Kent County), is seeking election in the 74th House District, which was vacated in November when Mark Huizenga (R-Walker) was elected in a special election to fill a vacancy in the State Senate. Sylvia Grot, a resident of Shelby Township (in Macomb County), is seeking election in the 36th House District, which was vacated in November when Doug Wozniak (R-Shelby Twp.) was elected in a special election for the State Senate.

The Michigan Chamber plays an active role in helping shape Michigan’s future by supporting pro-jobs, pro-growth candidates who have the ability to win and courage to govern. The process includes a detailed evaluation of candidates on key issues important to our members and advancing a strong, thriving economy.
