Earlier today, the Michigan Senate adopted a Concurrent Resolution (SCR) opposing the federal “Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act” (H.R. 842/S. 420).
SCR 8 will be transmitted to Congress to voice the Michigan Legislature opposition to the PRO ACT and Congress’ one-sided attempt to drastically and irresponsibly restructure America’s labor laws. Among other things, the bill would force employees to pay union dues regardless of whether they support a union or their state (like Michigan) has a Right to Work law in place, threaten private ballots in union elections and strip workers of their independent contractor classification.
The Michigan Chamber strongly opposes the PRO Act because it would harm employees, threaten job creation and undermine our economic recovery.
