MEMBER RESOURCE ALERT: Green Business Bureau Discounts

As more businesses of every size and type expand their sustainability efforts and investors, and customers and employees alike seek more eco-friendly practices, a new opportunity with the Green Business Bureau may be able to help.

If your business is looking to assess, address or add to your efforts to go green, this Green Business Bureau (GBB) resource might be right for you.

Growing Trends

Recent trends and data show a growing focus on job providers demonstrating sustainability.

  • 84% of consumers say they seek positive environmental commitment from the companies they do business with.
  • 73% of consumers believe companies and brands have a responsibility to make a positive change in the world.
  • Fast-growing sustainability disclosures and new rules are becoming more and more common from governments and shareholders/investors.

Key Program Components

As a trusted authority, GBB provides online solutions to help businesses at every level of the sustainability spectrum identify, assess, learn, prioritize, manage, and/or certify green initiatives. Some highlights include:

  • It’s online and at your own time and pace – whatever fits the needs of your individual business.
  • It’s flexible and yet guided – participants choose the initiatives that may best fit and can work for their needs.
  • It offers recognition and reward for a company’s sustainability efforts from a proven, trusted and credible third party.

How It Works

  1. Sign up – businesses become GBB members with immediate access to resources and tools. MI Chamber members get 20% off their membership with the promo code “michamber20” at checkout.
  2. Assessment – complete a simple survey – the EcoAssessment TM – to determine where your business currently is and get credit for green initiatives already accomplished.
  3. Identify – review a library of resources to help you decide which initiatives may work best for you and your business.
  4. Plan and implement – a specialized, easy-to-use planner tool helps you prioritize which initiatives will maximize benefits and return.
  5. Measure – track your overall sustainability program results.
  6. Certify – get your results verified and certified by the GBB; badges help boost your visibility and grant recognition for the work you’ve done.
