Congress Passes Sweeping Coronavirus Relief: How Will It Impact Employers?

The President is on the verge of signing significant bipartisan legislation addressing the impact of the coronavirus outbreak, aiming to soften the economic blow of the pandemic. The Families First Coronavirus Response Act includes:

  • Unemployment Compensation
  • Paid Sick Leave
  • Paid Family and Medical Leave
  • Provisions for Diagnostic Testing
  • Health Services
  • School Nutrition Programs, WIC, SNAP, Senior Food Programs
  • Medical Devices Liability
  • Discussion of Liquidity Impact for Small Businesses

We would encourage Chamber members to review the U.S. Chamber’s statement in response to the House-passed bill and review their bill summary, which breaks down the package and provides analyses for the business community.  All members of the Michigan Delegation voted “yes” for the legislation except Congressman Amash, who voted “present.”
