Chamber’s Tax Policy Advisory Committee Meets

Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) Executive Vice President and Chief Business Development Officer, Josh Hundt, addressed members of the Michigan Chamber’s Tax Policy Advisory Committee last week. Hundt provided the committee with an overview of the MEDC’s programming and legislative priorities.

In addition to hearing from Hundt, committee members were briefed on Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey’s potential proposal to increase road funding. Specifically, the plan would bond for the unfunded liabilities in the public school’s pension fund in an effort to redirect more revenue towards roads without raising taxes.

Proposed changes to the Court of Claims were also discussed and the Michigan Chamber’s Director of Tax Policy & Regulatory Affairs, Dan Papineau, gave the committee a legislative update on several tax related issues the Chamber is focused on right now.
