Chamber forms new coalitions on energy mandates, paid leave

Advocacy News – Sept. 7, 2023

As the Legislature gears up for a busy fall session, the MI Chamber is forming two new coalitions: one to voice concerns about legislative efforts around renewable energy mandates and the other around mandatory paid leave.

Why it matters: Gov. Gretchen Whitmer provided an unprecedented mid-year address last week, outlining her top legislative priorities for the fall and beyond, calling for action on a range of high stakes policy issues, including:

  • Creating a massive, new paid leave government insurance program impacting employers of all sizes and types and
  • Mandating 100% clean energy mandates.

Chamber members who share our concerns about these sweeping mandates, which will cripple our state’s ability to grow and prosper, are invited to join the coalition and band together to make their voices heard.
