Businesses with Fleet Vehicles to Receive Auto Insurance Refunds

Advocacy News – March 29, 2022

Bipartisan auto no-fault insurance reforms passed in 2019 are saving Michigan businesses money, including $400 per-vehicle refunds being sent between now and May 9.

The Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association (MCCA) authorized $3 billion in refunds to more than 7 million Michigan insured drivers, including businesses that operate vehicle fleets. The refunds apply to anyone who had a vehicle, motorcycle or RV that was covered by a policy that meets the minimum insurance requirements to operate on Michigan roads as of 11:59 p.m. on October 31, 2021.

The refunds will be sent via check in the mail or ACH deposit. Individuals and businesses do not need to take any further action to receive a refund.

If you are a business or business owner that operates a fleet of vehicles and you have a question about your refund, contact your auto insurance company or agent. For questions or concerns that cannot be resolved directly with the insurer, contact the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services by calling Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 833-ASK-DIFS (833-275-3437) or by emailing autoinsurance@michigan.gov.
