What’s happening: The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) is transitioning to MiUI, a modern platform replacing the Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM) system. MiUI’s Tax functions – including wage reporting and making payments – went live in February 2026, with Benefits functions expected in 2026. As part of the transition, all Michigan employers must take action to initiate their own “MiUI” unemployment insurance account, even if they use a third-party administrator (TPA).
Why it matters: Maintaining an employer account is needed to submit second-quarter wage reports (due July 27, 2026) and, once benefits functions are available later this year, view benefit claim information or file protests or appeals. Employers will not be able to file protests or appeals or assign a TPA to work on their behalf without initiating their MiUI account.
