A no-snow winter leaves Michigan businesses struggling, federal relief available

Advocacy News – March 5, 2024

What’s Happening? This winter season has been particularly brutal for Michigan’s businesses that are reliant on snow for business profits. With the unusually warm weather so far this year, 42 of our state’s 83 counties are under at least one federal drought declaration.

  • Because of these declarations, impacted businesses are eligible for up to $2 million in emergency relief funds from the U.S. Small Business Administration. Loans are interest-free for the first year.

Zoom In: Due dates for relief fund applications are dependent upon the county in which a business is located and which declaration a business determines to file under as there have been multiple federal declarations for various counties.
