Childcare: Finding Solutions for Employers and Employees

Advocacy News – June 14, 2022

Later this month, the Michigan Chamber of Commerce is co-hosting an informational webinar around one of Michigan’s unique solutions to the childcare and workforce crisis – Tri-Share.

Tri-Share is an innovative public-private partnership that equally shares the cost of childcare between employers, employees and the State of Michigan. This initiative is the first of its kind across our nation and currently serves 57 counties across the Great Lakes State. Currently in its pilot phase, the program is on-track to secure funding through the end of next year with bipartisan support from the governor and Michigan Legislature.

The free webinar, hosted on Tuesday, June 28 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., is a perfect fit for interested employers to learn how to participate in the program and offer childcare support to their employees. Cheryl Bergman, Executive Director of the Michigan Women’s Commission, and Michelle Richard, Senior Advisor on Education to Governor Gretchen Whitmer, will provide an overview of the program. In addition, participants will hear from a participating employer and facilitator hub to give insight into how this program works and the many benefits it can provide.
