There is No End to the Fad Tax of the Week - Like a Tax on Bikes & Other Mobility Devices?!

April 30, 2018

The Michigan Chamber is prepared to fight a bill introduced last week that would impose a $2.00 per transaction tax on mobility devices, like bicycles, mopeds, electric bicycles, and any other street device that isn't a car.

House Bill 5883, introduced by State Representative Leslie Love (D-Detroit), joins a host other proposed taxes the Chamber has successfully blocked, taxes on sweetened beverages, plastic bags, junk food, water bottles, and dental prosthetics. There seems to be no end to including these anti-business tax proposals from tax and spend legislators.
