9:05 – 9:45 a.m. Michigan 2023: An Economic and Business Outlook
Dr. Roger Tutterow
Professor of Economics, Kennesaw State University
The expansion that followed the “great recession” is approaching its tenth birthday. While the first five years were fixated with reaching “normalcy”, the focus has shifted to concern over whether the maturing of the expansion is setting the stage for a recession.
In this session, Dr. Roger Tutterow provides a timely overview of the national, regional and state economy. Special emphasis will be placed on evidence of resurgence in the manufacturing sector, the outlook for consumer spending and the retail sector, the role of currency valuation on the balance of trade, the ongoing normalization of interest rates and monetary policy, performance of real estate markets and the implications of ongoing changes in the political and regulatory climate for the financial services industry.
