Sales, Use, Withholding Taxes Delayed, Again…

April 15, 2020

On Tuesday, the Michigan Department of Treasury delayed the March and April Sales, Use, and Withholding Tax (SUW) deadline by another month.

While the Michigan Chamber appreciates the Department’s delay, we strongly believe the time has come for long term, comprehensive guidance on tax compliance.  Employers and tax practitioners across our state desperately need more than these continued, last minute extensions.  The Department of Treasury should map out tax filing deadlines and compliance processes out for the remainder of the year.

After hearing from several chamber members on various tax related issues they currently face during this public health emergency, the Michigan Chamber sent State Treasurer Rachael Eubanks this letter.  The letter is an attempt to reinforce the importance of timely and detailed tax compliance information during these times of major uncertainty.
