Duncan Aviation, Inc., Battle Creek — We Can't Be Grounded

“We can't be grounded.  As the largest, independent provider of business aviation service in the world, having an awareness of what is happening with the state and regional economy is critically important,” said Andy Richards, Chief Operating Officer of Duncan Aviation, Inc., in Battle Creek. “The Michigan Chamber is a great conduit for that information.”

A family-owned, third generation company, Duncan Aviation considers itself a tip-to-tail provider of service for business jets, which means “we can do just about anything that needs to be done, from maintenance to refurbishment to aircraft modification,” says Andy.

Like with many businesses across the state, finding certified skilled workers is a key concern for Duncan Aviation. “It’s particularly challenging for aviation,” says Andy, “because there is a huge pilot shortage in the United States right now. Even more threatening is the current mechanic shortage. We do have pilots on staff, but we’re mostly about mechanics and technicians here.”

“Knowing what is happening in Lansing to address issues like workforce readiness is of great value me as a member of the Michigan Chamber,” says Andy. “The information that we receive from the Chamber keeps us abreast of what is happening at the State Capitol and we might need to do. That is the greatest value for us.”
