I believe God made male and female to be a team. Male and female leadership balances and gives the full scope of what is needed at the table.
What does leadership mean to you?
Leadership means serving others. To become a great leader you have to be willing to do what you ask others to do! You have to care for the group and teams that you lead beyond the task that you give for work. Life involves so much more than just work and if you are present and involved as a leader you will learn and understand what makes other get to there highest potential.
Who has influenced your idea of leadership?
I have had amazing leaders in my household with my mother and father being executives and athletes leading very large teams of people by there words and most importantly their actions. They have showed me the responsibility of leadership and it’s importance. I have also had plenty of basketball coaches who have taught me the meaning of being part of a team, self-discipline and that effort is directly attached to ones success! Playing college basketball at Michigan State truly allowed me to see so many women leaders from my teammates to coaches. This showed me that I could be a leader also!
Why do we need more women in leadership roles? What do they add to the table?
I feel that women make great leaders because of their innate ability from God to care and nurture. I also truly enjoy working with my male counterparts because of their ability to take emotion out of decisions. I believe God made male and female to be a team. Male and female leadership balances and gives the full scope of what is needed at the table.
How are you leading in your career/community?
It’s hard for me to sum up how I am a leader because it’s been a process of me learning how to lead myself over time. So during my process of becoming a leader I had to step out and take big leaps of faith to start projects I had no experience in. Through the leading of God and the Holy Spirit, I have been able to start a foundation to fund cancer research at Michigan State University. We have now funded 21 graduate/ post doctoral students at MSU totaling $630,000 given to MSU to further cancer research in our community. During that time I also started a business to create apparel solutions to workforce problems. We thrive on thinking outside the box to develop items that benefit the wearer in more ways than one. My desire is for The business and foundation to lead in areas of serving others. Every day is different and presents a new challenge but through prayer, vision, strategy and listening to our customers we continue develop. Below sums up our patented product lines approach to the work force:
OUR VISION: To support the highest endeavors of human action through the God given innovation of wearable products.
OUR GOAL: To be the trusted partner of corporations. Improving the efficiency and quality to both their employees and their business by providing apparel solutions. To align with their values of impeccable professionalism and doing good
