The Michigan Chamber of Commerce today applauded Governor Snyder’s pick of Kurtis T. Wilder for the Michigan Supreme Court. Judge Wilder, who has served on the Michigan Court of Appeals in the 1st District since 1998, will fill the vacancy left by Chief Justice Robert Young Jr., who retired from the Court in April.
“A stable, predictable legal climate is a key factor in Michigan’s economic competitiveness,” said Michigan Chamber President & CEO Rich Studley. “Judge Wilder is an experienced and very capable jurist who believes in separation of powers and the rule of law.”
“Governor Snyder has a proven track record of appointing well qualified individuals who become outstanding Justices,” noted Jim Holcomb, Senior Vice President for Business Advocacy & General Counsel for the Michigan Chamber. “Judge Wilder is an independent, intelligent and fair-minded jurist with a strong record of accomplishment who will be a positive addition to an already highly regarded Court.”
“Kurtis Wilder is a solid choice for the Michigan Supreme Court and we strongly support his appointment,” Studley concluded.
