Over three billion data records have been compromised so far this year -- and the number of data breaches continues to climb. This growing problem has caught the attention of state lawmakers who are looking to adopt regulations aimed at protecting consumer data.
House Bill 6405, introduced last month, would create the “Data Breach Notification Act." The Michigan Chamber has been asked to provide input on the bill. While this legislation appears to be much more reasonable than previously introduced cybersecurity bills, member feedback is encouraged.
