Leadership Michigan Online Application
ABOUT LEADERSHIP MICHIGAN
Leadership Michigan was instituted in 1988 by the Michigan Chamber Foundation
and offers tremendous personal and professional growth opportunities for
participants. The program works to: (1) inform leaders about challenges and
opportunities facing our state and to encourage solutions and collaboration, (2)
inspire leaders to become active in organization, community, or statewide
efforts that make Michigan a better place to work and live, (3) challenge
leaders to increase their awareness about themselves and their state and to
maximize their leadership potential, and (4) provide an opportunity to network
with a variety of individuals to strengthen personal and organizational clout.
INSTRUCTIONS
Complete each section fully and limit your answers to the space provided.
After you have submitted the application, send the $100 application fee, 2
letters of recommendation, and one color photograph by December 15, 2010 to the
Michigan Chamber.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Leadership Michigan will identify those individuals most likely to utilize
their leadership abilities for the long-term benefit of Michigan – locally,
regionally and/or statewide. Participation is open to all citizens of the state.
Leadership Michigan will select a class of 25 to 35 leaders who represent the
various geographic regions of the state from the public, private and non-profit
sectors. Special consideration will be given to ensure diversity of race, gender
and occupational background.
PROGRAM TUITION
Leadership Michigan tuition is $3,600 and covers program costs, hotel
accommodations, meals, Annual Leadership Dinner, transportation during sessions,
speaker fees, and materials. Participants are responsible for their own
transportation to the session locations and any parking/valet fees. A limited
number of partial scholarships are available for those from non-profit
organizations requiring financial assistance. Please email
foundation@michamber.com
for the
one-page application.
COMMITMENT
Leadership Michigan provides the latest information and a variety of opportunities to keep participants on top of the
issues facing Michigan. In order to fulfill our commitment to you and your employer, participants must make a commitment
of time and active involvement to the program. The 2011 program
features six sessions held around the state between April and October. The
orientation session in April is mandatory. The five following two-day sessions
begin at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday and conclude at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. You are expected to attend every session. However, we
understand emergencies arise, so an allowance is made for a maximum of two days
that may be missed (deductions will be made in half-day increments). Absence
from more than one full session or the 2-day accumulation of partial sessions
will make the participant ineligible for graduation with their class. If you
cannot fulfill these requirements at this time, please delay your application
until you are able to make this commitment.
