ADVANCED SAFETY COMPLIANCE CERTIFICATION

Requirements

The Michigan Chamber of Commerce sponsors certification programs to recognize educational achievement and professional excellence. Once you have completed the basic certification requirements, you may choose to further your efforts toward education and voluntary compliance with legal regulations, by completing the advance certification. The ongoing certification curriculum is comprised of top-quality courses designed to help you do your job more effectively. Program fulfillment requirements are as follows (NOTE: seminars offered will vary from year to year):

  • Certification will be awarded when a participant accumulates a total of twelve (12) credits. This includes six earned from basic certification - no duplicate courses.
     
  • At least ten (10) in-house seminars (one credit each) must be included in the twelve credits. Some examples of seminars held include:
    • OSHA 10-Hour Course (exception to rule about no duplicate courses)
    • OSHA 30-Hour Course (exception to rule about no duplicate courses)
    • Develop/Maintain a Safety Program
    • MIOSHA Standards
    • Job Safety Analysis
    • Safety Committees
    • Safety Audits
    • Accident Investigation
    • And others as developed!

  • Up to two (2) of the safety related online courses offered by Summit Training may be included in the twelve credits (one credit each). Please fax your certificates of completion to 517-371-7228. Some suggestions include:
    • Forklift Safety
    • Hazard Communication/Recognition
    • Heat Stress
    • Incident Investigation
    • Lockout/Tagout
    • Office Ergonomics
    • Personal Protective Equipment
    • Industrial Ergonomic
    • Incident Investigation
    • Permit Required Confined Space Entry
       
  • Courses taken within one month of enrollment and beyond count towards program requirements.
  • The Michigan Chamber will maintain a transcript of participants' collective credits.
  • There is no fee for enrolling in the certification program. Participants pay only the regular registration fee for each seminar. Participants are under absolutely no obligation to attend our seminars or to complete the certification requirements.
  • Participants will receive promotional brochures on all qualifying seminars. Each brochure will state that the seminar is included in the certification curriculum and will give a credit value.
  • Participants will be awarded a personalized certificate upon completion of the certification program, which should be completed within three years of enrollment.
