There are six sessions from April through October. The first "Orientation" session is not only an orientation to the program, but an orientation to the rest of the class. At this
session the class develops common goals, participates in team building exercises, learns more about how each class member's particular knowledge and skills can be applied to the
betterment of the group and prepares to make the most of the following five sessions.
The following five comprehensive, two-day sessions will be held in the main regions of the state: Central, Southwest, Upper Peninsula, Southeast and
Northern. Each session includes
touring local landmarks and businesses; meeting local government, business and community leaders; discussing what makes a leader; and dialoguing about hot regional and statewide
issues and other elements that make Michigan unique. Topics to be covered include education, health care, business and economic development, tourism, government, law enforcement
and justice and other quality of life issues.
