Michigan Chamber Voices Strong Support for Passage of Bill to Construct a Customs Plaza in Detroit

March 25, 2014

In a joint letter to Congressional leaders in Washington, DC, the Michigan Chamber yesterday voiced its strong support of House Resolution 4057, the Customs Plaza Construction Act of 2014, introduced by U.S. Rep. Gary Peters. The bill would explicitly authorize the Secretary of Homeland Security to construct a customs plaza in Detroit for the New International Trade Crossing (NITC) between Detroit and Windsor. Approval of funds to build the customs plaza in Detroit is the last step required to build the most impactful economic development infrastructure project our state has seen in decades.
