The federal government released two mandatory labor law poster updates.
- The revised Fair Labor Standards Act (federal minimum wage) notice contains new sections on employee classifications (independent contractors vs. employees) and break time for nursing mothers.
- The new Employee Polygraph Protection Act notice has removed outdated information on civil penalties and provides current contact information for the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division.
These are mandatory federal revisions, so all Michigan and out-of-state locations must have the new poster versions displayed. The posting effective date is Monday, August 1, 2016.
