The Michigan Chamber of Commerce has a number of resources available for you to keep you up-to-date on issues in Lansing and help prepare you to lobby your elected officials.

Chamber Legislative Priorities

Michigan Chamber policy committee members compiled the 2011-2012 Legislative Priorities – Agenda for Job Creation & Business Growth. These priorities were developed with the involvement of several hundred business leaders from across Michigan. These priorities are a great resource for you to better understand the key issues Chamber lobbyists are focused on.

Michigan Legislature

The Michigan Legislature web site allows you to look up bills under consideration by the State Legislature, as well as look up public acts (state laws) and obtain other important links to state government.  

Michigan Chamber Legislative Action Center

The Legislative Action Center is easy to use and provides you with the resources needed to have a positive impact. It provides detailed information on what is happening in Lansing and how the Michigan Chamber is representing you.

Resources in the Legislative Action Center include:

Briefing Center - This page provides detailed information on specific hot button issues like National Health Care Reform and Michigan tax changes, among others.

Chamber Board Policies - This page provides you with detailed information regarding Chamber Board positions on a number of legislative issues from agriculture to workers’ compensation and everything in between.

2011-12 Legislative Priorities - These priorities were developed by members of the Chamber’s policy committees and included the involvement of several hundred business leaders from across Michigan. Chamber staff use these legislative priorities to focus policymakers on the challenges currently facing Michigan and to guide their decision-making process throughout legislative debates.

Policy Memos to Lawmakers - This pages provides copies of memos Chamber lobbyists have submitted to members of the state House and Senate regarding issues in which they are about to vote.  These memos clearly state the Michigan Chamber position on an issue and can be a valuable resource for you.

Key Bills At A Glance - Key Bills allows you to check the status of legislation in which the Chamber is actively engaged.

Legislative Testimony - Read the testimony our lobbyists provided to Legislative Committees and learn more detailed information about key bills.

The Latest Action Alert - See how you can get involved with direct contact to your elected officials by learning about the latest action alert. Here you will receive a brief overview of legislation as well as see a sample letter to your representative/senator. This site will help you partner with your Chamber lobbyists to encourage a lawmaker to act.

Legislative Voting Records - The Legislative Voting Record page provides insight into the business-friendliness of lawmakers.  Compiled at the end of each legislative session, the Chamber identifies a handful of votes based upon key issues important to the Chamber and business community and develops a ranking. 

Chamber Policy Committees - This page provides an overview of the mission of the Chamber Board Committees as well as meeting information.

Chamber PAC - Learn a little more about the history and success of the Michigan Chamber PACs.  You can also learn how to become a Chamber PAC member.
